What are adaptogens?
And how can they help? An introduction to the mushrooms and herbs in every AdaptoFlow product.
Plants and mushrooms that help you adapt
Adaptogens are herbs and mushrooms traditionally used to help the body adapt to everyday physical, mental and environmental stress, and to return to its natural balance, known as homeostasis.* Scientists first used the word "adaptogen" in the 1940s, but many of these plants have been part of traditional practice for thousands of years.
Functional mushrooms are mushrooms valued for more than flavor. Some, like Reishi and Cordyceps, are classic adaptogens. Others, like Lion's Mane and Turkey Tail, are prized for their own benefits and are often enjoyed alongside adaptogens.*
Traditional herbs such as stinging nettle and dandelion have been gathered in the Appalachian Mountains for generations as nourishing spring tonics.*
Adaptogenic roots, spices and botanicals round out our jam and gummies: ashwagandha, tulsi (holy basil), maca, astragalus, turmeric, licorice root, ginger, Ceylon cinnamon, dulse seaweed and raw honey.*

How it can help โBetter together
Adaptogens are rich in natural phytochemicals: plant and fungal compounds such as beta-glucans, triterpenes and flavonoids. When we blend adaptogens, their individual actions work in harmony.*
That's why every AdaptoFlow product combines several mushrooms and herbs in one small, controlled serving. Together they can help support a healthy inflammatory response, help the body manage everyday stress, and support a healthy immune system.*

The power is in the extract
Mushrooms have tough cell walls that the body can't easily break down. Extraction releases the beneficial compounds inside. We use dual extraction, because water and alcohol each pull out different compounds.
Select
We start with mushrooms and herbs, most of them grown in Western North Carolina and Southern Appalachia.
Hot water extraction
The mushrooms are simmered in hot water to draw out water-soluble compounds such as polysaccharides and beta-glucans.
Alcohol extraction
They're then steeped in grain alcohol to draw out alcohol-soluble compounds such as triterpenes and sterols.
Combine
The two extracts are combined into one full-spectrum tincture. Water pulls out what alcohol can't, and alcohol pulls out what water can't.
Find them in every product
