Lion's Mane
Hericium erinaceus ยท The focus mushroom
What is Lion's Mane?
Lion's Mane is a striking white mushroom with long, shaggy spines that look like a lion's mane. It grows on hardwood trees, including in the forests of the Southern Appalachians, and has been eaten as food and used in East Asian traditional practice for centuries.
What's in it
Lion's Mane contains beta-glucan polysaccharides along with compounds called hericenones and erinacines. Laboratory research is exploring how these compounds relate to nerve growth factor (NGF), a protein the body uses to maintain healthy nerve cells.
